Venturers (Age 15-18)
Overview
Venturer Scouts (ages 15 - 18) is a do-it-yourself mix of fun, adventure and personal challenge that brings together like-minded young people. Venturer Scouts have the space to have fun learning and developing character at their own pace. Venturer Scouts may explore the wilderness across Australia, camp above the snowline, dive on coral reefs, abseil into limestone caves, climb sheer rock faces, white water kayak, or ride your mountain bike over mountain ranges. Venturer Scouts continue the program of achievement recognition through the badge award system. The badge award system comprises Milestones, Special Interest Awards, and Outdoor Adventure Skills.
Leadership Team
Your Venturer Scout leaders are Salome Scott and Stuart Warren.
King's Scout Award
The King's Scout Award represents the highest level of achievement in the Venturer Scout section. This challenging Award aims to widen the interests and knowledge of Venturer Scouts and encourage them to 'look wide'. To achieve this prestigious award, Venturer Scouts must be able to set a goal; plan progress towards that goal; organise themselves and others; and maintain the determination to overcome difficulties and complete the task. Completing the King's Scout Award is a major milestone in a Venturer Scout's journey and carries an outstanding reputation within Scouting and the community. Completion of the Australian Scout Award requires a regular commitment to Scouting. Scouts wishing to complete their Australian Scout Award should discuss it with their leader at least two years before transitioning to Rovers.
Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Elements of the Australian Scout Award and the Duke of Edinburgh Award are complimentary. Discuss with your leaders how you can complete both awards concurrently.
